One of the two men accused of killing a gay porn producer because he thought he was a competitor has been sentenced to life imprisonment after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. In early 2006, Bryan Kocis, who operated one of the country's biggest gay adult entertainment companies, died of massive blood loss after his head was nearly sliced off, reports 365gay.com. Both Joseph Kerkes and Harlow Cuadra originally were charged with first degree murder and prosecutors said they would seek the death penalty, but Kerkes' guilty plea for second-degree murder – a result of a deal with prosecutors – carries a mandatory penalty of life in prison. Detectives working on the case were able to find Kocis' computer and they found a photograph of a man who was to have had an appointment with him on the night he was killed.
