Hamilton's Glamz! cabaret restaurant is up for sale, with the outgoing director hoping the business will be purchased by someone in the LGBT community who will keep it running as a drag venue. Glamz! Leone Dwyer Founder Leone Dwyer says Christmastime bookings have meant Glamz! will be very busy over the next few weeks, and the popular venue's calendar of events for the early months of 2009 is already in place. Dwyer's plan is to relocate to Auckland where her partner works, so she put the business up for sale hoping that new owners will keep it going in similar spirit but "take it to the next level." "Like with any business, whoever buys it should make their own mark, but we've certainly got the place off to a good start." Glamz! opened in Hamilton's Garden Place in May 2006, and has featured shows from dozens of local and guest drag queen entertainers. Auckland's Betty Ford visits for shows each fortnight, and Wellington's The Glamazons will appear at a special Christmas Party on Saturday 20 December. Contact details for Leone Dwyer and Glamz! are available on the restaurant's official website, linked below.
