The government of New South Wales has promised an inquiry into legalizing same-sex adoption after making changes to cut through red tape in the approval process for heterosexuals, reports the Sydney Star-Observer. The Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby is strongly supporting the inquiry. "New South Wales is in the ludicrous position of allowing individual lesbians and gay men to be assessed for adoption eligibility, but not same-sex couples," explains Lobby spokesperson Peter Johnson.
