Nelson's gay group makes Christmas plans

Sat 22 Nov 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News

Nelson's Spectrum gay men's group not only has plans for a gathering on Christmas Day, but will also take a picnic trip to Rabbit Island beach on Boxing Day. The beach for Boxing Day: Nelson's Rabbit Island The long-running social group serving the upper South Island will host a social lunch from 11am on Christmas Day, and then meet the following day from 1pm for a beachside recovery day. "It's often a time for meeting new people and often we have out-of-town visitors joining us there," explains Spectrum's George Gibbs of the annual event. "It's an informal event, where you eat and drink when it suits you, you are free to join in with the games or sit and be a spectator, or head off for a swim or whatever. Bring along your Christmas leftovers or whatever you fancy to eat and your own refreshments. So dig out your togs and sun umbrella, your chilli-bin and picnic gear for this year's Boxing Day Picnic." The group also holds regular meetings in central Nelson, and last month had their popular 4th annual OUTrageous Dance Party. More information on the group is available on their official website, linked below.
