Rainbow Labour's new MP says he's wasting no time in his first week of Parliamentary duties – caucus meetings start today and his first Parliamentary briefings are tomorrow and Wednesday. Rainbow Labour's newest member: Grant Robertson Grant Robertson, who won a hard-fought campaign for the Wellington Central seat, now finds himself in the Opposition party as National takes power. "It was all a bit stressful on the night," he admits. "We have to wait for the final vote count with all the special votes, but I don't think very much will change." The result is not what his party had hoped for, but Robertson says he'll make the best of it: "In opposition your job is to hold the Government to account, and be an advocate for the people of my constituency. And I'll definitely be doing that to the best of my abilities." Robertson says the past nine years of Labour Government have introduced many positive changes for our LGBT communities along with all New Zealanders, and tells GayNZ.com he looks forward to continuing their legacy as time moves on.
