After a quiet 2008, the team of volunteers behind the annual Out Takes LGBT Film Festival say they're planning for the return of the Festival next year, and are keen to hear feedback from the community. Since 1995, the Out Takes Film Festivals have screened new LGBT-themed movies and short films from around the world, but due to lack of funds raised in 2007's Festival, there could be no complete Festival this year. Three fundraising screenings are organised instead, and together with sponsorship and other fundraising, money was raised for next year's Festival. "Thanks to everyone who came along to our fundraising film events in Wellington and Auckland this year, and to our sponsors for their generous support," say the Reel Queer team, who are now working on the Out Takes 2009 film festival - sourcing films, applying for funding, and organising sponsorship and programme advertising. Dates have not yet been confirmed, but a late May start for the two-week Festival is being considered for Auckland, late May/early June for Wellington, and early June for Christchurch. The Reel Queer team is now inviting past Out Takes film-goers to take part in an online, anonymous survey which will help plan 2009's Festival. The survey can be accessed on the link below.
