New guide to the law for LGBT NZers

Tue 4 Nov 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News

A new free online resource from the Coalition of Community Law Centres aims to provide up-to-date and comprehensive information on law issues concerning gender identity and sexual orientation. The online guide, which can be downloaded as a 2MB .pdf, answers common questions about the law around relationships, property and financial support, domestic violence, wills and estates, guardianship and parenthood, rights as an employee, ACC and health issues, the justice system and victim's rights, immigration, consumer rights, and issues for LGBT young people. Case studies are provided to highlight specific situations, and links are given for further information on complicated issues. A charitable organisation, The Coalition of Community Law Centres of Aotearoa Inc promotes community legal services, participatory justice, community development and to help meet the unmet legal needs of communities throughout New Zealand. The new resource is produced in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development. Access the Coalition of Community Law Centres website on the top link below, and the guide to the law and sexual orientation/gender identity can be downloaded (as a 2MB .pdf) from the bottom link below.
