Homo horror around NZ for Halloween

It's a real 'monster mash' this weekend around New Zealand, with several bar theme nights and events aiming to attract brave homos to celebrate Halloween 2008. The Sohomo event crew is planning horrific nights out in Auckland and Wellington, while two Auckland bars have themed nights, and a dance party in Dunedin will celebrate Halloween 2008. Sohomo's horror night is on Auckland's K' Road tonight and Wellington's Cuba Street on Saturday night, featuring horror clips, a horror photo-booth and horror punch, plus free make-up artistry for the Wellington show. Guest DJ Mikey Havoc will spin discs and live band Brand New Meth will perform. Also in Auckland, Dorothy's Sister bar on Ponsonby Road will be ghoulishly decorated tomorrow night, with seven horrific performers lined up and bar tab prizes for best patron's costumes to be awarded. Meanwhile, Urge bar on K' Road gets into the Halloween spirit with a 'mooning competition', where "the best ass gets a top prize." In Wellington, a drag Halloween Special at Bluenote bar tomorrow night will be hosted by Felicity Frockaccino will feature shows from the city's up-and-coming divas, with a Tim Burton character or 'living dead' dress code. Meanwhile, new LGBT nightclub Club Ivy on Dixon Street will host a spooky Halloween Party from 10pm, which as also a goodbye to 'Safe Sex Poster Boy' Josh Chapman as he prepares to head off to live and work in Brisbane. Down in Dunedin, the organizers of the Babylon Queer Dance Party tomorrow night promise it will be the best LGBT Halloween Party of 2008, with prizes for the best dressed as well as bonus giveaways, a DJ, and performances from some of Dunedin's most popular acts. The party starts 10pm tomorrow night at The Fever Club, 140 George Street.
