Tomorrow night's 26th annual Christchurch Oscars LGBT community awards has now sold out, with organiser Miss Mole excited to once again roll out the red carpet for all her celebrity guests. Making Chch sparkle: Miss Mole "I'll be there on the red carpet outside the grand Civic Centre on Manchester Street, where there'll be photo ops and lots of glam frocks," she laughs. Last year's Oscars featured an extensive cast of entertainers on a night which wrapped up well after midnight – and Mole says this year will be similar, with a large line-up of local acts, and guests coming from around New Zealand. As usual, the event will honour Christchurch's LGBT community stalwarts and friends. K' Road's outrageous Caluzzi hostess Beaver Brown will co-host the elaborate awards – dubbed Christchurch's "queer event of the year". Tickets for the event went on sale in August and sold out last week. Miss Mole, who has revealed she will be doing the opening number of the event on Sunday, has hinted again that this year could be the very last Chch Oscars. "I know I've said that before," she chuckles, "but it takes a lot of work and I never know if I have it in me to do it all again. But people love it so much, they're always keen to have it back each year."
