Chelsea Boys come to K' Rd on Saturdays

Tue 21 Oct 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The Chelsea Boys are heading upstairs to K' Road's Purple bar and promise to provide "a big queer night out for the hip boys and girls looking for something extraordinary." Indie-house DJs, Samuel Holloway, Babes! Babes! Babes! and Oscar Nut, are the first Chelsea Boys lined-up to play on Saturday 25 October, and then on the second and fourth Saturday nights of every month. Paul Phillips, who brings Aucklanders the popular Sohomo events, is behind the new Chelsea Boys nights – but he tells GayNZ.com he plans them to be a very different vibe to Sohomo. "Chelsea Boys will open its doors to the fashionistas of Saturday nights out. With an iconic New York undertone and local flavour, the nights will be upmarket and cocktailish, with easy to get into DJs that spin music at the forefront of culture." Chelsea Boys events begin at 10pm, with a cost of $10 on the door, which will include a complimentary vodka shot.
