Palin breaks with McCain on gay marriage

Tue 21 Oct 2008 In: International News View at Wayback

Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin has signaled her support for a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage – a position John McCain one described is "antithetical in every way to the core philosophy of Republicans". Against gay marriage: Sarah Palin "I am, in my own, state, I have voted along with the vast majority of Alaskans who had the opportunity to vote to amend our Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman," Palin said in a CBN interview. "I wish on a federal level that that's where we would go because I don't support gay marriage." McCain had broken from his party's leadership on the matter when the federal marriage amendment was debated in 2004, saying that "it usurps from the states a fundamental authority they have always possessed and imposes a federal remedy for a problem that most states do not believe confronts them." Palin has also disagreed with McCain on other issues, including global warming and abortion. A recent video showing Sarah Palin's views on homosexuality, abortion and global warming is shown below.
