Mon 20 Oct 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Fa'afafine singing group Hymnchidivah is in the semi-finals of New Zealand's Got Talent, on screen tonight at 7:30pm on Prime TV. In the semi's: Hymnchidivah Lindah Lepou, Henry Ah-Foo Taipo and Tai Royal have been performing together since last year. Their band's name is a conjunction of the words Hymn (song of praise), Chi (life force energy), and Divah (female singer), explains Lepou. The band first performed on the TV talent show last month, with the judges and viewers' votes deciding they should return for the semi-final. Lepou says she's excited to have made it this far in the contest, and hopes Kiwis will vote via text and 0800 number to send the group to the final show. "We are the only original singer/songwriters competing, and we're from multi-cultural backgrounds, each covering an array of creative arts from dance, fashion, film, performing arts, and promoting New Zealand and Pacific music. "We are having the time of our lives and are so grateful for all your love and support."
