The global economic meltdown was ignored in one small part of Auckland's K Road last night as Urge Bar hosted its second annual Slave Auction. Takeaways: Cindy of Samoa (centre) rounds up Urge bar's slave boys Over $2,100 was raised for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand and a further $700 for Body Positive during the night. Artwork, weekends away, restaurant vouchers and a tattooing session were just some of the many items up for grabs before a packed crowd on Saturday. The bar's co-owner Alan Granville said the night exceeded expectations. "We raised nearly double last year's total, which is an absolutely awesome effort. We can't say thank you enough to the many, many fantastic individuals and companies who offered items to be auctioned," said Granville. "Our slaves were a massive hit and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves on the night. A big thanks to Scott Dunning for organising the event and co-hosted the auction along with Cindy of Samoa." Next weekend is Labour weekend and Urge will celebrate with the debut Kiwi appearance of Sydney DJ Matt Effect on Saturday 25 October followed by an Underwear Party on the Sunday.
