After months of anticipation, Wellington's new LGBT nightclub, Club Ivy, is finally set to open this weekend. Club Ivy's logo The venue, partly in the same space as the old iMerst, has been under renovation for the past few months in a bid to become the capital's only queer nightclub. "It's really exciting that the public can soon enjoy this new space we've spent so long creating," says the club's owner Greig Wilson. Wilson says Club Ivy will be an exciting and much-needed addition to Wellington's LGBT scene. Scotty and Mal's Cocktail Lounge on nearby Cuba Street is a very popular queer cocktail bar, "but we also need a nightclub space, which is where Club Ivy comes in". Club Ivy will be open to the public from this Friday, with Pop Stars night — a weekly event celebrating trashy pop music from the 80s and 90s. Other planned theme nights include Girl's Nights, Cocks
