The Chairperson of Auckland's Hero Festival Trust Board Frederic Guillemont has stepped down as he considers job offers which would see him leave New Zealand early in the New Year. Stepping down: Hero's Frederic Guillemont Guillemont says he's sorry to be leaving Hero after only 18 months in the role, but assures Auckland's LGBT community that the annual Festival is in safe hands, as former Hero Board Secretary Richard Kittelty has stepped up into the Chair role. "I've enjoyed my time with Hero and I know it'll continue to go from strength to strength, with a new team to take it into 2009 and beyond." This year's Hero Festival featured 30 events spread throughout February, ranging from dance parties to art exhibitions, to swimming and bowling events. 2009's Festival will take place in the same month as usual, with the Big Gay Out picnic day in Coyle Park set for Sunday 8 February. All other events are yet to be finalised and announced.
