Fri 10 Oct 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

It's a mixed bar and dance venue that's been featuring more gay-themed nights lately – and tonight Kiss bar at 309 K' Road celebrates a decade of dancing with a retrospective of DJs and a new theme-night announcement. Delicious Thursdays: Ramon Te Wake "Everyone remembers their first Kiss," says DJ Nick Collings. "And in a scene of one-night wonders and instant dance floor gratification it's a major achievement that some things stand the test of time. "Kiss has proven itself as the weekly pilgrimage for thousands and has provided the defining soundtrack for over a decade in its illustrious dominance of K' Road. So come and raise your glass and toast Kiss nightclub's past as we gatecrash the present with a birthday bash 10 years in the making." The upstairs Bacio bar will feature a retrospective of resident Kiss DJs from the past decade, including Leighton, Andy Day, CJ and Baxter. Downstairs will be 2008's sounds, including Haze, Kyle Donegan, Puzzel and DJ Marty of Kiss's Fluffy and Ultra gay nights. From 9pm next Thursday, Bacio will host a new fortnightly Delicious Thursdays event with Ramon Te Wake as resident DJ. "I'm looking forward to it – I'll be playing RnB, Funk, Hip Hop and Old Skool tracks. Stuff you don't often hear in gay venues," she tells GayNZ.com. Te Wake's first two Delicious dates – Thursdays 16 and 30 October – are confirmed and the event will continue if they prove popular. Kiss's gay events Fluffy on Friday night and Ultra on Saturday nights are taking a break as the venue is currently hosting nzrave.com party DJs – but they may return in the future, say the Kiss crew.
