More snow was dumped on Queenstown's peaks yesterday as Gay Ski Week continues – with its climax, the annual White Out Party, happening at Bezu Bar tonight. Queenstown's Got Talent: Kitty Glitter gets the boys up on stage Two full buses departed for an all-day wine tour yesterday featuring tastings from Chard Farm, Amisfield, Peregrin and Gibston vineyards. Then the evening's entertainment was at Queenstown's Sky City Casino, where Sydney's drag diva hosted a raucous karaoke night which attracted several lesbian couples and local drag queens, along with the gay male skiers who partied there until the early hours of the morning. Gay Ski Week organizer Mike Sanford says he's been pleased with the turnout for the week's activities so far, but is expecting a lot of guests to arrive this evening especially for the White Out Party. Sydney DJs Dan Murphy and Kitty Glitter will feature at Bezu Bar from 9:30pm until late. "It's a chance to celebrate another great week, and we've had bookings from right around the South Island – many coming to Queenstown just for the party," he explains. After a wet Wednesday, conditions have been sunny and ideal for skiing, helped by 5cm of fresh snow. Night skiers on Coronet Peak this tonight will hear DJ selections from a recently-installed sound system.
