Hopes are high that openly-gay Australian diver Matthew Mitcham will take away an Olympic medal for Australia in the Men's 10m Platform final tonight after his strong placing in the semi-final. Medal hopes: Matthew Mitcham mid-dive After a disappointing placing in the 3m springboard diving semi-final on Wednesday – when the 20-year-old ranked 16th out of 18 – he wowed the crowd and judges at the National Aquatics Centre this morning, finishing 2nd place in the semi-final of the 10m dive. Mitcham is making history as the first Australian ever to compete in the Olympic Games while open about his homosexuality. New Zealanders can catch highlights of the 10m diving semi-final tonight at 9:15pm on TVOne. The finals will then be broadcast at 1:40am.
