Saudi Morality Police - known as the 'Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice' unit - have arrested two gay Filipino men in Saudi Arabia's capital city of Riyadh, reports Saudi's Sabaq online news. Arrested: Two men in Saudi charged with homosexuality The detainees are aged 35 and 51 are charged with "committing the despicable act of homosexuality and promoting the consumption of Alcohol." The authorities say they arrested the two men "while committing the crime", also seized some alcohol owned by the detainees. "The work permit of the two men expired two years ago and their only source of income is through selling Alcoholic drinks and working as prostitutes," says the story. The authorities say they also found the phone numbers of a number of their clients, who are from "different nationalities". Shari'a law, as interpreted and enforced in Saudi Arabia, allows punishment for homosexuality to range from imprisonment to 'flogging'. Two gay men were given 7,000 lashes last year in Saudi Arabia by prison authorities.
