Sydney: Lover charged in murder mystery

Wed 6 Aug 2008 In: International News

The middle-aged gay lover of Sydney man Matthew Leveson, who disappeared late last year, was yesterday charged with his murder, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. Matthew Leveson Michael Peter Atkins, 45, was arrested at his apartment. It is understood Atkins was the "partner" referred to in media reports last year as the person last seen with Leveson as he left ARQ nightclub in Surry Hills in the early hours of Sunday 23 September. 20-year-old Leveson was reported missing two days later after he failed to turn up for work at a Hurstville call centre. When he disappeared, it was feared he was the victim of a gay hate crime. It is understood the pair had been in a relationship and had been living together at Atkins's apartment for several months before Leveson's disappearance. This story continues on the link below.
