Cooking queens: Buffy and Bimbo are BBQ girls "Cooking Doesn't Have To Be A Drag vol. 1 is a fun and entertaining cookbook that fuses the art of cuisine with the art of drag queens," explains Buffy. Suitable for a coffee or the kitchen, the volume contains over 50 photos of drag queens from around the world, along with quotes, entertainment and yummy recipes. Buffy and Bimbo represent Aotearoa with two tantalizing recipes. "The entrée is BBQ buttered New Zealand green lipped mussels, and our delicious main is BBQ lamb chops with a Kiwi salsa," Buffy explains, drooling. "We think the girls got confused between muscles and mussels." The girls will host their book launch and signing with wine, nibbles, entertainment and a cooking demonstration from 6pm on Tuesday 12 August at the Women's Bookshop (105 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby). Proceeds will go towards the upcoming Queen of the Whole Universe, a fundraiser for the NZ AIDS Foundation, Body Positive and Positive Women.
