Student called "smartass fag" for Rice stunt

Tue 29 Jul 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News

Auckland University's outspoken and openly gay Students Association President David Do has received several angry homophobic emails from America after the Association called for the citizen's arrest of US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during her visit to New Zealand. 'Colourful' emails: David Do Branding Rice a 'war criminal' over her role in the war in Iraq, New Zealand's largest Student's Association offered $5,000 for Rice's arrest, believing she should stand trial at the International Criminal Court. Do's press statement was widely reported in news stories around the United States last week, including Reuters, USA Today, the Washington Post, Fox News and the BBC. "Only a cock sucking faggot would have a last name like 'Do'," the worst of his emails from America ranted. "Well I am offering $10,000 to anyone who shoots you dead if you ever come to the USA. How do you like that you little smartass faggot?" One angry American calling himself 'Teakwood' raged against New Zealand: "Fuck you and your ALL BLACKS rugby team too. Just a bunch of screaming tattooed faggot savages. There aint nothin' in New Zealand but beers and QUEERS anyway. That's why God put New Zealand in the middle of 'NO WHERE.' And made it a less than nothing country." Another of several insulting emails called Do a "pusillanimous, puerile, vacuous, vapid, pecksniffian little pinhead." Do says he's received several 'colourful' correspondences along these lines. "Personally, I read such emails and laugh. Regardless, the content still is quite disturbing from a homophobia point of view," he tells GayNZ.com.
