Death near Lateshift "not suspicious"

4.50PM: Police investigating the death of a man, who may be gay, a few metres from the entrance to Auckand's Lateshift cruise club, now say a post mortem examination shows there are no suspicious circumstances. Body found: Police at the scene The body of the man, believed to be in his mid- to late-20s, was found at the corner of Dundonald Street and Basque Road by a passer-by shortly after 8 o'clock this morning. He was lying partially obscured between a parked car and a metal traffic barrier. Police said this afternoon that they were unsure of what time he died or what happened leading up to his death, however he may have been on Ponsonby Road around 10pm last night. It is not yet known if he visited Lateshift during the evening. Police enquiries into the death, which will include a toxicology report, are continuing. The man's identity has not yet been released.
