Sydney DJ Dan Murphy will visit K' Road this weekend It's been nine months since the Kiss bar begin Fluffy Friday and Ultra Saturday events, with venue owner Steven Lee saying he aims to provide "a place where people can feel comfortable, safe and proud." However, having never run a gay bar before, Lee says he's unsettled by the politics and negativity associated with Auckland's gay scene. "I have been surprised by how often I'm told that Auckland just isn't big enough for more than one venue, and I was particularly disturbed when certain people started telling patrons to boycott my venue for such reasons as 'I was just taking money from the community and that I wasn't putting anything back into it'." Similar comments have also been made on GayNZ.com's Forum. Lee is keen to set the record straight: "Fortunately most people see through these rumours, but it's a shame that certain parties feel the need to further their own agendas through malicious slander. "I feel that Fluffy and Ultra, Kiss and [upstairs bar] Bacio have been a valuable addition to the community, and we've supported numerous community organisations and artists including the Big Gay Out, DeeZaStar, GayNZ.com, DJ Station, Flirt, Kings
