The convicted murderer of Palmerston North gay man Stanley Waipouri demanded $6,000 from police in return for giving evidence at the trial of his co-accused, the High Court at Palmerston North has heard. The statement would be used as evidence in Gilling's re-trial, reports the Manawatu Standard. Later, during a three-hour interview with police last month, Arnopp said he wanted $6,000 put into his bank account for his story, Detective Oram said.
