TriangleTV seeks a world of gay 'Sproquets'

Sun 6 Jul 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Triangle Television and Stratos Television will again hold their gay television festival Sproquets in September, and have contacted television producers worldwide for entries. "We are looking for all genres of work but it doesn't have to be first run," says Triangle TV's Director of Programming Hans Versluys. Local programmes are always welcome, and the best programmes from around the globe will be featured also. "It's always a surprise to see where stuff comes from," he explains. "The Festival is always a very mixed bag of genres, lengths and countries of origin." Triangle TV is the free-to-air non-commercial public access regional channel in Auckland and Wellington. Stratos TV is a free-to-air national satellite channel available on the Freeview and Sky Networks around New Zealand. Genres featured in last year's festival included drama, comedy, historical documentary and music video. "Obviously we would like to run a bit more fictional movies, but these are usually covered by distribution and broadcast rights that we cannot easily afford," says Versluys. "So most of the material we end up with is coming from independent producers, budding film directors and documentary makers who want to get the screenings on their CVs." If you wish to have your work included in Triangle TV's 2008 Sproquets Festival, email info@tritv.co.nzfor an application form.
