Disgraced anti-gay Christian 'morals' campaigner Graham Capill has been denied early release from prison and told to participate in a programme for child sex offenders. The Board's decision noted that Capill - whose wife is reportedly standing by him - would find "excellent support" out in the community if released, and that his behavious while in Prison has been "exemplary". However, the Board had met with the victims of Capill's crimes and taken account of their views: "They are concerned that you might still pose an undue risk to the safety of the community. [name withheld] has a specific concern that you might pose an undue risk to [names withheld]," read the decision. "The other matter that is stressed is that they would like you to undertake a programme, and preferably that is the programme that is available to you in Prison, the Kia Marama Programme for child sex offenders." The New Zealand Herald and The Dominion Post are today both carrying pictures of an upset Capill being sentenced for rape in 2005, with the Dominion Post also showing him lying on the ground after being hit by a man outside court after the ruling.
