The basement level of Christchurch's Civic Centre on Manchester Street will be the setting for a decedent Roman Toga-themed party this Saturday night, says the Garden City's drag veteran Miss Mole. Miss Mole The outrageous MC says they'll be something for everyone - Stella and her Latin posse will dance raunchily for the girls, drag performers will light up the stage, "and there's sure to be lots of hot guys there - gay and straight". Competitions on the night will include Best Tits, Best Bulge in Bowers and Hottest Roman God and Goddess, giving partygoers a chance to win prizes on the night, and DJ Danice will provide the music for the one-off event. Miss Mole, who has been a stalwart of Christchurch's drag scene for 37 years, says her Flamingo Bar, which opened in the Civic Centre last year, has found its niche and is busy with casual drinkers at weekends. Her annual Oscars night of awards for Christchurch LGBT community notables will take place in October this year, "with a whole new look and layout at the Civic." Public voting forms for Oscars recipients are now available from the Flamingo Bar.
