Gay and Lesbian Singers honour music icons

Wed 11 Jun 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Auckland's Gay And Lesbian singers will honour their favourite musical icons with their next concert at Auckland Grammar. GALS have announced their first concert for 2008, a rousing show "to cheer you up as winter begins". As well as a variety of well-known numbers like Bonnie Tyler's Holding Out for a Hero, Cole Porter's Anything Goes, and Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now, GALS promises "some wonderful choral arrangements that will amaze and wow you!" Auckland-based composer David Hamilton will feature in the programme as a local icon who has a special connection with GALS. The unauditioned singing group formed in 1992, and has a regular choir of over twenty people. The concerts are at 5.30 each evening, "perfect for grabbing some friends to go out for dinner afterwards," say GALS. BRAVO! Celebrating our musical icons Saturday 28 June and Sunday 29 June 2008 5.30pm Centennial Theatre, Auckland Grammar School, Mountain Road, Epsom, Auckland. Tickets $20 prepaid or $25 door sales. Available from The Women's Bookshop, 105 Ponsonby Road or email tickets@gals.org.nz .
