This Sunday evening's charity screening of Boy George's film Taboo in Auckland has been rescheduled, as its original date clashes with tribute events for drag entertainer Bambi Slut, who died last month. Taboo: Boy George as Leigh Bowery Bambi will be remembered with a special service at St. Matthews-in-the-City Church from 4:30pm this Sunday 15 June, followed by an elaborate party at the Crest Hotel on K' Road that evening. Donald Hollingworth says he'd planned a special screening of Boy George's musical film Taboo at K' Road cabaret restaurant Finale on the same evening - so he has now delayed his event until the following Sunday. Set in London in the 1980's, Taboo tells the story of the decadent lives of Leigh Bowery and Boy George, and has never before been shown in New Zealand. The screening night will also feature shows and surprises from the Finale girls, joined by the bewildering on-stage event that is DeeZaStar, says Hollingworth. The screening will help raise funds for HIV support network Body Positive and LGBT Film Festival Out Takes, with $20 tickets selling well and still available from the Body Positive offices, DJ Station on K' Road and Finale itself. The Taboo screening is now scheduled for 6:30pm on Sunday 22 June.
