2 live bands for Sohomo's Wellington visit

Tue 20 May 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

K' Road's popular Sohomo clubbing night will visit Wellington on 20 June, featuring two live bands and a dancing troupe alongside Sohomo's regular DJ's. Coming soon to Wellington: Sohomo's new poster The San Francisco Bath House, upstairs at 171 Cuba Street, will host the event. Sohomo's fortnightly alternative nights began on Auckland's K' Road in October 2007, and have featured live acts and bands, along with themed parties. "Combining a queer-friendly crowd with indie-electro music, Sohomo has been redefining social binaries," says promoter Paul Phillips, who describes the upcoming gig in the capital as a chance to "pay homage to Wellington." Wellington electro-folk band Little Pictures will appear at Sohomo with their final New Zealand show before their Australian tour. Heat Like Me combine electronic drums and analogue synthesisers with pop vocals - the result is a fun and infectiously danceable mix of electro, funk, and rock sensibilities. Sohomo's next Auckland gig is on Thursday 29 May. A 'Royal Special', the event will feature funk artists Bang!Bang!Eche! live, along with "lots of Victorian themed art, pomp, and queen stuff that you won't know about 'till you get there."
