Auckland's Lesbian Business Association (aLBa) has re-launched itself with new activities and events… and a reclamation of the colour pink. "Think palpably passionately Pink! Wear party Pink, Parisian Pink, pleasantly peachy Pink. Be paradoxically Pink," announces aLBa's revamped and now vibrantly pink-tinged official website. At aLBa's regular monthly meeting in Purple bar on K' Road last night, attendees heard about the organisation's new programme of events over pink cocktails and nibbles. Their next meeting in June will feature TV and radio producer Harriet Crampton talking about trends in the media - and why she thinks there is nothing to watch on television. A mid-winter dinner is planned for July, an election special event in August, and a speaker on the impact of high oil prices in September. aLBa's Annual General Meeting will take place in October, then a books information evening in November with the Women's Bookshop, and a big party will round out 2008 in December. aLBA might have a new look and energy, but the philosophy hasn't changed, says the committee. "It's all about meeting like-minded lesbians, support from a similar field and meeting lesbians who have services you may need at some time. Need we say, the more you put into an organisation, the more you get out of it." To find out more information or join aLBa, visit their official website on the link below.
