NZAF: Cash injection for K' Road HIV clinic

Mon 5 May 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The Board of Trustees of the New Zealand AIDS Foundation has made a one-off grant of $80,000 to Body Positive, to help the HIV support service continue its work in Auckland's Karangahape Road area. The decision was signalled by the NZAF Board last year after a lengthy community consultation process, and the subsequent relocation of the NZAF's trusted HIV testing and support Burnett Centre to College Hill. That consultation process found that the community strongly desired access to counselling and testing services in the K' Road area to be retained. "This decision recognises that Body Positive wish to grow into the vacated space from the Burnett Centre," said NZAF Board Chair, Mark Henrickson. "We would like to confirm the Board's support for Body Positive, and their commitment to making testing services available in the area." "We are delighted that the NZAF is helping us develop additional space for testing and other treatments for the K' Road Clinic." says Bruce Kilmister, Body Positive's Chief Executive. "We will be offering a rapid HIV testing service, counselling, and a massage room." The K' Road Clinic will officially open this winter.
