A new giant 3-D shoe for Dorothy's Sister

Thu 10 Apr 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News

The team at Ponsonby Road's campiest bar will unveil a brand new giant glittering red shoe tomorrow, as a "much more fabulous" replacement for the one stolen from their roof two weeks ago. A fancy feat: Peter Taylor and Rodney try Dot's new show on for size A reward had been offered for the return of Dorothy's Sister's big red shoe, pinched from atop the veranda outside the bar on Good Friday evening. But with no leads as to its whereabouts, owner Peter Taylor decided a larger, more elaborate replacement was called for. Constructed out of plywood and PVC by Taylor's partner Rodney, the fancy footwear goes one dimension beyond the original, which was flat out. The new 3-D 'wedge' will be officially unveiled at 5pm tomorrow (Friday) at the bar, and Taylor playfully says he's considering placing it on the traffic island in the middle of Ponsonby Road in front of Dorothy's Sister for a few days, before hoisting it up on top of the veranda at the weekend to replace the original. "But we're going to really bolt it down this time so no meanies can nick it," Taylor adds.
