Hungarian tourist Ferdinand Ambach, accused of the late December killing of gay Onehunga man Ron Brown, made another brief appearance at the Auckland District Court yesterday, where he was given a date for a predepositions hearing. Ambach is expected to plead not guilty to three charges - murder, intentional damage, and assault on Brown - when his case eventually comes to trial. The accused remains in custody until a predepositions hearing on Tuesday 13 May. He was scheduled to have his bail hearing re-heard this week after it was delayed at the request of his defence, but his lawyer yesterday asked for more time for investigations into Ambach's background in his home country to be completed.
