GABA Charitable Trust money up for grabs

Tue 18 Mar 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News

Gay Auckland Business Association Trust Chair Geoffrey Marshall says applications for grants from the GABA Charitable Trust are now being sought for this year's funding round. GABA Trust Chair Geoffrey Marshall Following the GABA Charitable Trust Annual Christmas Auction held last December, the Trust will again consider a major project for a large part of the available money. The Auction raised $15,875. "Funding is open to any idea which benefits the wider GBLT community rather than any individual," explains Marshall. "But under the Charities Act, the Trust is unable to assist any commercial venture. "Any project would have to fulfil the Trust's aims of being of benefit to the general GLBT community, or at least a significant part of it." Marshall says he would be happy to talk to any potential applicant who may be unsure whether their idea would be within the scope of Trust funding or who thinks that the Trust may be able to help them in some other way. Applications close on April 18th, 2008. For a copy of the application form or for more information, email the Trust Chair Geoffrey Marshall at gm.jh@ihug.co.nz.
