Press release: Contestants and Volunteers sought! From: Queen of the Whole Universe pageant organisers 13JAN05 Now is your chance to be involved in one of the most successful and captivating fundraising events based on last year's Queen of the Whole Pacific. It has been confirmed that Queen of the Whole Universe bigger, better and brighter than last year's event will be held at the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre on Saturday 26 November. The event, a fundraiser the New Zealand AIDS Foundation once again, will require more contestants/participants and volunteers. Jonathan Smith, Event Manager/Director will be managing the event from Europe and returning to New Zealand when rehearsals commence in October. He is delighted that due to the huge success of last year's show that he was able to secure a larger venue and more sponsorship for the 2005 event. “It is very exciting for me to be able to develop and enhance what was a great event last year and hopefully raise even more funds for NZAF whilst having the most amazing, enjoyable and rewarding time” said Jonathan. “Sandi Goodwin, my business partner and I are working together on developing a London equivalent of the event for a local AIDS organisation”. Jonathan has been very fortunate to have secured Maree Folwell as the Auckland producer. Maree was the assistance to the producer/director last year. The 2004 event required a total cast of approximately 90 volunteers which included 31 participants/contestants performing on stage. ‘Queen of the Whole Universe” will require at total 54 participants/contestants plus additional volunteers working back stage. If you would like to try performing, dressing in a frock even if you have never done so before, work in a fun environment and supportive team, can commit to 2 nights of rehearsal a week for 5 weeks or can offer some back stage help, handy with a paint brush or whatever and wish to support a good cause, then come to the first audition/volunteer meeting on Sunday 23 Jan 2005. No advance preparation is required so just come along and the meet the team from last year and have a chat to the director about being involved and remember “This event is for everybody regardless of age, gender and sexuality” Jonathan stated.
