Which Wigs will be on the Waterfront this Sunday?

Wed 12 Mar 2008 In: Events View at Wayback View at NDHA

Miss Gloriousole's pretty face points out where Wigs will be on Sunday... This Sunday 16 March sees another high-camp event in Auckland City - as drag entertainers and friends from throughout New Zealand (including a huge entourage from Hamilton!) hit the stage downtown at the Viaduct Basin for SIX HOURS of musical delights in Wigs on the Waterfront 2008. There's been some 'drag drama' in the queen city this year, so Wigs organisers have been tight-lipped as to the official line-up of performers. But by popular demand, GayNZ.com tracked down the schedule - and we're risking a stiletto-kick up the backside to bring you as much information as we can! Enjoy the fun day in the sun - bring your sunscreen, and remember some loose change… this event is a free fundraiser for OUTline telephone counselling network, and their volunteers will be there throughout the day to get your change inside their rattling buckets. GayNZ.com will let you know early on Sunday morning if the event is not going ahead due to bad weather. If necessary, all the Wigs will be put back into their glossy boxes until the raindate - Sunday 30 March. Here's the on-stage line-up for 2008's Wigs on the Waterfront - with a few other performers yet to be announced: Lola Bangaway (one half of 'Buffy and Bimbo') will MC in a rare appearance all by herself! She'll have a flurry of guests to keep her company though - including Vera from Dorothy's Sister (winner of Queen of the Whole Universe 2007), Nstint, Lola Bangaway, Carmen and Summer Clearance. Bimbo will also host an outrageous game show or two…and introduce a debut number by brand new character 'Peggy Bint'. Have a wonderful Wigs on the Waterfront and join us here on Monday for all the fabulous photos. Matt Akersten - 12th March 2008
