Rainbow Youth art prize draws in new talent

Wed 27 Feb 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Auckland-based LGBT youth support network Rainbow Youth has cast its net wide to find young up-and-coming artist talent to help design new posters which will advertise its activities. Youth Coordinator Robert Marshall says details of the new art competition went out to every secondary school in Auckland, and he's now heard from several budding graphic designers keen to see their work in glossy print. "We're looking for four different posters, which will promote four of our groups - Generation Queer, Identity, Queer Sports Night and Gender Quest. The four winners will each get an awesome prize pack." The posters will be sent to interested secondary schools and youth centres around Auckland, and the winning art will also be featured online at the Rainbow Youth website. Rainbow Youth is grateful for substantial prizes donated from The Women's Bookshop, Merchandykes.co.nz and Westfield Shopping Centres. Submissions to the poster competition are due by Monday 31 March. For further information, contact the Rainbow Youth centre on (09) 376 4155 or email postercompetition@rainbowyouth.org.nz .
