AUS: Faker's lead singer comes out

Wed 30 Jan 2008 In: International News View at Wayback

Nathan Hudson, lead singer of Australian alternative pop band Faker, has revealed he's gay to a Sunday magazine. Nathan Hudson (centre) with Faker Australian gay youth website GenQ reports that the singer hopes his honesty will make young gay teens feel comfortable with their sexuality. “My association with being gay was that it was bad and dark and not good for you. I had trouble finding people to look up to,” he said. "I'm happy to talk about being gay for that kid in the suburbs who's 15 and scared." Meanwhile, Silverchair's lead singer Daniel Johns has told the crowd at Sydney's Big Day Out "I'm not fucking gay." Rumours about Johns' sexuality have swirled for years, intensifying recently as he split with his wife Natalie Imbruglia. Johns was secure enough in his sexuality to wear a lacy garter on stage during Silverchair's show. The video for Faker's single This Heart Attack can be viewed below.
