One of New Zealand's oldest gay organisations, telephone counseling and support service Outline, is trying to contact people connected with it in the past as a documentary maker prepares to record the organisation's history. Turning 36 years old this year and known until recently as Auckland Gay and Lesbian Welfare operating the Gayline, Lesbianline and HIV/AIDS Hotline services, Outline believes it is time to record its past. “Unfortunately very little is known about the people who started it all those years ago, or about its history” says General Manager Neil Denney. Independent film maker Ken Cage has already started work on the documentary and needs assistance to gather information for a video he will produce. "We would like to make contact with former members of Gayline/Lesbianline for any photographs or stories they may have, especially from the early to mid 1970s," says Denney. "Any old 8mm film footage or video tapes of events, training, etc. can be used and would be gratefully received." People wanting to be involved, or with information or material they can share, should call Ken Cage on 0-9-414-0800 ext. 9237 (day) or 09-442-4462 (after hours).
