Pope attacks equality for GandL partnerships

Mon 31 Dec 2007 In: International News View at Wayback

Tens of thousands of Catholic faithful have gathered in Madrid and Vatican City for rallies promoting 'traditional' families. Pope Benedict XVI addressed the crowd in St Peter's Square  and his words were televised on giant screens in central Madrid. The Pope said that the family is "based on the unbreakable union of man and woman and represents the privileged environment where human life is welcomed and protected from the beginning to its natural end." His remarks were greeted with a massive cheer in Madrid. Same sex marriage was legalised in Spain in 2005. Italy is currently considering civil partnership legislation which has the support of the Prime Minister.     Ref: 365gay.com
