AKL: Male strip bar opens New Year's Eve

Wed 19 Dec 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

A central intimate location, lounge seating throughout, smoking area out front, a small movie theatre, stripping/dancing cages and poles, luxurious toilets - and a bar in the shape of a butt wearing a G-string - it's Auckland's new male strip club, opening for the first time this New Year's Eve. Nowear's New Year's Eve flyer invite Sasha, who previously operated gay all-male strip venue Adam's Cage in downtown Fort Street through 2003-4, says he's excited to be able to bring Auckland a new club, and is currently working hard to complete the refurbished interior in time for the New Year's Eve party. The premiere night of Nowear on 31 December will be a tribute to Adam's Cage, he reveals. "We'll have strippers from the Cage, and lots of costumes from that time. There'll be games, and I'll be going around with plates of tequila shots for the guests. "I want to provide something fun and different - a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere," Sasha says. Nowear will officially opening on 11 January 2008, taking over the venue formally known as Club Nexxus - across the road from the King's Arms on France Street, Newton. Sasha says the location is central "but discrete", and plans to open Tuesday - Sunday each week, with shows each Friday and Saturday night.
