Sydney's new gay and lesbian music festival Summer Gay Day attracted a crowd of over 4,000 partygoers to Moore Park for funky sounds outdoors on Saturday afternoon. Summer Gay Day flyer After a wet start to proceedings, the rain cleared as the sun set and the dancefloor was packed as midnight rolled around and beyond. Three different spaces at Summer Gay Day gave attendees a chance to experience varying music styles and scenes over the vast outdoor area. The main arena, titled simply the Summer Gay Day Stage, focussed on upbeat party music. The second area, Summer Lovin' on the opposite side of the Kippax Lake housed the Manhunt Stage - an indoor arena where the musical style went darker and deeper than in the main arena. The third stage, built into the side of the sweeping lake, was Summer Camp - a live space featuring comedy, cabaret and festival games. "Sydney in Summer is one of the world's most beautiful cities," says the event's Marketing Director Tim Duggan, "so we wanted to give it a truly world class event to celebrate what we love most about our amazing city – beautiful music in a stunning location." Sydney's first Summer Gay Day fell on World AIDS Day, and organisers ensured the important date was recognized at the event.
