Three United Arab Emirates nationals, including a man who has AIDS, are on trial for luring a 15-year-old French boy into their vehicle and gang raping him at knifepoint, a newspaper reported today. Two of the suspects, aged 35 and 18, were standing trial in a criminal court while the third, 17, was facing a juvenile court, Gulf News said. "The three were charged with forcefully undressing the victim, threatening him with a knife and a stick before having sex with him against his will," the newspaper said, adding that two lawyers had refused to represent the suspects. It said the two men denied the charges when they appeared in court. The trial of the minor is closed. Court officials were not available for comment. Veronique Robert, the mother of the rape victim Alexandre, said last week her son had been at risk of being jailed for a year on suspicion of homosexuality under UAE law. "Alexandre risked, until yesterday, a year in prison for homosexuality," Veronique told Radio France Internationale on 25 October. The full story is available on the link below.
