South Aucklander Sandra Morris says she's tired of traveling to the existing gay venues and groups in the central city area and is hoping to start an LGBT network in her area in the coming months. “There are many activities available for the LGBT community in central Auckland, however for those of us living in the southern suburbs there is very little”, says Morris, who lives in Papatoetoe. “Historically, groups have been run for younger LGBT people through Rainbow Youth, however there is no social network for people outside of the Rainbow Youth age limitations - up to 27 years," Morris says. “There are now many people from our community living out south and not in the CBD as has historically been the case.” Morris is working with telephone counseling network OUTLine NZ in an attempt to have a monthly social network set up in south Auckland. The aim of the group is to have a people meet on a regular basis to make contacts and form a social network in the southern Ref: Outline NZ (m)
