'Fluffy' new Friday nights out on K' Road

Thu 18 Oct 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Laserlights, cocktails, prizes and go-go dancers are planned for Auckland's new Friday gay dance clubbing night at the revamped Kiss bar on Karangahape Road. Fluffy flyer "Fluffy is a brand new Friday-only gay dance club with an emphasis on fluffy vocal and commercial music, fun, fluffy entertainment and lots of fluffy cocktails," says the bar's manager Steven Lee. Fluffy's Grand Opening begins at 9pm on Friday 9 November and features music from HERO Party DJs Dee and Marty along with The Edge Radio's resident Saturday night DJ Justin Sane. "There will also be hot, fluffy DJ Station go-go dancers and a full-colour laser lighting rig, along with spot prizes and giveaways throughout the night," Lee announces. The newly renovated Kiss bar at 309 K' Road now contains a Zen-style designer bar, timber floors, dancing podiums and a comfortable smoking area out front. Fluffy has free entry before midnight and a $10 cover charge after that, so Lee hopes punters will get there early to enjoy a full night of free entertainment. "As an incentive, the 1st 50 through the door will earn themselves a VIP Fluffy card that gives them free entry on regular Fluffy Fridays, drink discounts and queue-jumper privileges on busy nights." The new night is a charitable event with a percentage of the door take going to LGBT phone support service OUTLine. K' Road's other new gay clubbing night - the fortnightly alternative music event Sohomo at the Rising Sun venue, begins on Friday 26 October, then continues every second Thursday from 8 November.     Ref: Kiss (m)
