Singers, songwriters, dancers and other performance acts are invited to join the 'Queer Quest' contest to find and expose the hottest new upcoming LGBT talent for 2008. "Move over The Fab Five, New Zealand brings you Queer Quest," announces organiser Shirley Howe. The contest was formed to help bring together our diverse talented individuals within the GLBT community throughout New Zealand, she explains. Howe says the first Auckland Queer Quest in 2003 was very successful, so is reviving the contest with six weeks' worth of heats around the country, leading to a grand finale in Auckland or Wellington next May. Three heats and a semi-final will be held at Family Bar on Auckland's K' Road, and talent from Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin - or any other city centre interested - are also invited to sign up for heats at yet-to-be-confirmed venues. Two contestants in each city will be selected as finalists for the finale. Entry forms to register as a contestant or partner of Queer Quest are available on the official website, linked below.
