A gay star of YouTube has netted a deal to star in his own TV series, after his 'Leave Britney Alone' clip attracted several million viewers in one week. Chris Crocker: Web celeb Chris Crocker, a 19-year-old from Tennessee, wailed "leave Britney Spears alone" on the video sharing website, after widespread criticism of Spears' recent performance at the Video Music Awards. Crocker's clip is now fast heading towards eight million YouTube views. A television production company has inked a deal to develop a docusoap built around Crocker, who lives with his grandparents and jokingly describes himself as the "Queen of the Ghetto". Even before the Britney clip, Crocker had developed a large internet fanbase via numerous video performances posted social networking websites like MySpace. "The game is positivity," explains Crocker on his webpage. "I believe the best way to educate and spread positivity is through entertainment, which translates to edutainment. Which just so happens to be my specialty." "Chris first got on our radar a year ago," said production company 44 Blue prexy's co-founder Rasha Drachkovitch, who says he wants to develop a show that plays to Crocker's strengths. "It's going to pretty much be the 'Chris Crocker experience,'" he said. "We consider him a rebel character that people will find interesting. He's going to be a TV star." Since posting 'Leave Britney Alone', Crocker has become a darling of the mainstream media, appearing in news broadcasts, satirical shows, and inspiring countless spoofs, including one from actor Seth Green.
