NZ AIDS Foundation services in the Waikato will not be adversely affected by the resignation of its Regional Manager for the Waikato region, Tim Allingham, according the Foundation. Allingham has been with the Foundation for just six months. In a letter circulated yesterday to friends and workmates he says he has left due to "unresolved issues" concerning his line manager. Neither Allingham nor the NZAF have elaborated on the nature of those issues. Executive Director Rachael Le Mesurier says the Foundation has "robust processes for matters relating to personal grievance" and cannot comment "out of respect for the privacy of all staff concerned." The resignation is not a result of staff tensions emerging in the wake of the NZAF's restructuring and resultant staff changes, according to Le Mesurier. "This resignation is unconnected to the recently publicized restructuring process," she says. Allingham's line manager, NZAF National Positive Health Manager Eamonn Smythe, says NZAF counseling, testing and health promotion services in the Waikato are unaffected by the resignation which he was advised of two weeks ago. Allingham is currently using up annual leave and although his final day is officially September 20th he does not expect to be back in the office. He says he has enjoyed working with the NZAF's Hamilton-based staff and believes the Foundations Waikato services have been strengthened during his tenure: "I am only sorry what I will not be there to continue the excellent work that the other staff is doing." The NZAF has experienced a number of resignations recently, losing its Wellington manager Chris Sibley and two Gay Men's Health senior staffers, Edward Cowley and Te Herekiekie Herewini. The latter two have departed during a shake-up of the GMH department, one of a number of organisational changes which have angered some staff in recent months.
